As a third grade teacher it saddens me when girls as young as 8 are worrying about fitting in and being thin. That is why I love the message in this book. Zoey is funny, smart, and wonderfully weird. She wins in life by staying true to herself. I hope that many young girls will follow Zoey's example.

Margie Palatini has written a hit! This book was fun, the layout was great and the message was received loud and clear. Zoey is just your average halfway to eleven year old, she knows all sorts of really cool stuff. The problem is that she is a geek! She is not one of the cool kids and is looking for a fairy godmother to make her cool. (Aren't we all?!) The book is fast paced, fun and a great read.

Geek Chic offers kids a valuable lesson in understanding that being yourself is always best. Zoey thinks that she has to be like other girls to be “cool”, but when a magazine offers her a column because she’s unique she realizes that to be cool she just needs to be herself. She invites us into her world speckled with the secret language of pre-teens through her journal. She still believes in the magic of Fairy Godmothers, and in turn makes magic for herself. This book is a must-read for pre-teens – it’s fun and kids just might learn the value of being just who they are.

Geek Chic is the perfect book for any girl who has felt the ever-pulling urge to fit in and be popular. This book is great from start to finish. Zoey, the main character, will keep you laughing your head off in her attempts to become popular. The characters are funny, witty, and are very easy to relate to. Different fonts and funny pictures give the story an extra special touch of uniqueness and make the story all the better. Margie Palatini is certainly an author with her own personal flare!
