Celebrate any and every holiday with personalized wrapping paper made by your baby! It's easy and can all be done at home! And you can recycle by using brown paper bags for the wrapping! But best of all, your baby can learn colors and shapes while learning to paint!

Things you will need:

  • Brown paper bags (like those you get at the grocery store)
  • Fingerpaint in a variety of colors (make sure it is fingerpaint that easily washes out of clothing)
  • Wax paper (to cover the surface on which baby is painting)
  • Smocks (one for you and one for baby)

Instructions: Have your baby dip his/her hands in the paint and make handprints on the brown paper in whichever color you choose. You can also help your baby make different shapes (e.g., circle, triangle, and square). While baby is painting, talk about the different colors and shapes. You can even try making a bow out of two handprints!

Here are some suggestions for holiday baby-made wrapping paper:

  • Christmas - Red and Green
  • Hannukah - Blue and Yellow
  • Valentine's Day - Red
  • Mother's Day - Yellow
  • Father's Day - Blue
  • Birthdays - Red, Blue, and Yellow
  • Halloween and Thanksgiving - Orange

Your holiday gifts will be a hit and baby will learn while helping you!
