Then, follow the instructions provided to complete and submit the pre-registration/entry form including your first name, last name, mailing address, and date-of-birth, as well as your parent’s/legal guardian’s email address and telephone number. In the event of a dispute as to the identity of an online entrant, the entrant will be deemed the individual named on the online pre-registration form, regardless of whether that individual is the authorized account holder of the email address at issue. Multiple entries will be disqualified, and only the first entry will be considered.
SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS
One (1) potential Grand Prize Winner and ten (10) potential First Prize Winners will be selected by a random drawing from all the eligible entries on or about March 1, 2010. The parent or legal guardian of the potential winners will be notified by email or telephone and required to sign and return to HarperCollins an affidavit of eligibility and release of liability (the “Affidavit”) on behalf of the winner. The guests of the potential Grand Prize Winner will also be required to sign a release of liability (the “Guest Releases”). If the Affidavits (and the Guest Releases in the case of the potential Grand Prize Winner) are not returned within 7 days of notification, the potential winner will be deemed to have forfeited the prize, and an alternate potential winner will be chosen.
PRIZES
One (1) Grand Prize Winner will receive:
i. Roundtrip economy airfare for the winner and three family members from the major airport in the United States (excluding US territories and possessions) nearest to the winner’s residence to Houston, Texas (Approximate Retail Value (ARV): $2,400); however, if the winner resides within 200 miles of Houston, Texas, HarperCollins will only provide roundtrip ground transportation from the winner’s home to the hotel (ARV: $500). The difference in value between the airfare and ground transportation will not be awarded;
ii. Double occupancy economy hotel accommodations for four for two nights at a hotel to be determined within close proximity to Space Center Houston (ARV: $500). Specific details of hotel accommodations are subject to change depending upon time of year, room availability, etc.;
iii. A collection of books published by HarperCollins and related promotional merchandise (ARV: $100); and
iv. A private two-day tour for four of NASA’s Johnson Space Center and Space Center Houston. At this time, the tour is scheduled to include the following: Astronaut cafeteria, space vehicle mock-up facility, new mission control center, historic mission control center, and other unique space environment training facilities, simulators, and research laboratories. The Sponsors reserve the right to change the tour at their sole discretion. NASA does not offer private tours to the public, so this event has no monetary value.
All other expenses, including, without limitation, local transportation to airports and the Johnson Space Center, meals, and gratuities, are the winner’s sole responsibility.
The Grand Prize must be fulfilled by no later than June 30, 2010 and is only available during Monday through Thursday each week. If the potential Grand Prize Winner is unavailable at these times, he or she will be deemed to have forfeited the prize and an alternate potential Grand Prize Winner will be selected.
As a condition to accepting the Grand Prize, the potential Grand Prize Winner and his or her guests must also consent, without any additional compensation, to HarperCollins recording their tour of the Johnson Space Center and Space Center Houston, in any all media, and using such recordings for purposes of advertising and promotion, unless prohibited by law.
Ten (10) First Prize Winners will each receive a collection of books published by HarperCollins and related promotional merchandise (ARV: $100).
Approximate Retail Value of all prizes is: $2,100—$4,000.
Eleven (11) prizes will be awarded, provided there are at least eleven eligible entries. The prize is non-transferable and cannot be sold or redeemed for cash. In the event that a prize is unavailable, HarperCollins reserves the right to substitute a cash payment of equal or greater value for the prizes, except that no cash substitute will be provided for the Johnson Space Center tour because the tour does not have a monetary value.
