William Joyce didn’t have a lot of books growing up, just Where the Wild Things Are, a collection of fairy tales, and a three-channel TV. Fortunately, these were plenty to get his imagination going, so that when he got older, he wanted to draw places he’d never seen, adventures he’d never had, and people he’d always wanted to meet. Ever since the second grade, when William Joyce wrote his first book, his best-selling and award-winning modern classics have charmed the socks off of children and adults alike.

Two of Joyce's characters have even jumped inside the TV screen! Look for George Shrinks on PBS and Disney’s Emmy Award-winning Rolie Polie Olie. His book A Day with Wilbur Robinson is soon to be a Disney animated feature film, Meet the Robinsons.
