Celebrate 100 years of Margaret Wise Brown!

HarperCollins commemorates the 100th birthday of Margaret Wise Brown on May 23, 2010. Brown transformed the landscape of children's literature with such beloved classics as Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny.

Since the publication of The Runaway Bunny in 1942, generations of readers have fallen in love with this comforting story about a little bunny’s imaginary game of hide-and-seek with his loving and steadfast mother.

Goodnight Moon is everybody’s favorite bedtime book. Its lyrical text and familiar images have ushered countless sleepyheads to bed. In the sixty years since its publication, the book has sold more than 14 million copies. If you added up all the times this book has been read, it would reach the moon.

Two years after Goodnight Moon was published, Margaret Wise Brown and Clement Hurd once again combined their special talents in My World. This timeless picture book delivers an enchanting and reassuring portrait of a child’s growing sense of identity.

From kittens to cows to bowls of mush, the familiar objects in Goodnight Moon find new expression in the counting book Goodnight Moon 123. Bold and easily distinguishable numbers identify classic items pulled from the little bunny’s great green room until everything, even the stars in the sky, are bid a fond goodnight. Award-winning author and illustrator Thacher Hurd, son of Clement Hurd, created this new book.
